The Gator wrestlers went 5 – 0 at the buddy duals this weekend winning the tournament and increasing their dual record to 8 – 1 after the second weekend of the 2015 – 2016 season.  The Buddy Duals is an annual dual tournament hosted by Effingham Co. to support the Low Country Down Syndrome organization.  There were 10 teams at the Buddy duals which included Ware Co, Effingham Co. A, Effingham Co. B, Islands, South Effingham, Richmond Hill, Brunswick, Savannah Arts Academy, Benedictine Academy, and Statesboro.  The Gators matched up against Brunswick in Round 1 and blasted them 76 – 3 losing only one match in overtime.  In round 2 the Gators wrestled Effingham Co. B team and beat them 78 – 3.  Round 3 paired the Gators with South Effingham and the Gators defeated the Mustangs 54 – 18.  Round 4 was and exciting match-up between the gators and the Wildcats of Richmond Hill.  The Gators stepped up and defeated the Wildcats 49 – 24 placing the Gators in the finals against Islands of Savannah.  The Gators ended the day with a solid victory vs. the Sharks defeating them 60 – 21.

The Gators next tournament will be Friday and Saturday Dec. 4 – 5 at Jeff Davis HS. 

Wrestling will begin on Friday at 4:00 pm and on Saturday at 9:00am.

7th Annual Swamp Duals Nov 14, 2015

The Gator wrestling team started their season strong going 3 – 1 in the Swamp Duals hosted by Ware Co. this past Saturday.  There were 10 teams who participated in the tournament this year. 

They were Camden A, Camden B, Ware Co, Effingham Co., Brunswick, Glynn Academy, Colquitt Co., Tift Co., Lowndes Co., and Valdosta.  The records for each team in pool play were as follows:  Camden A 4 – 0, Camden B 4 – 0, Ware Co. 3 – 1, Tift Co. 3 – 1, Valdosta 2- 2, Colquitt Co. 2 – 2, Effingham Co. 1 – 3, Lowndes Co. 1 – 3, Glynn Academy 0 – 4, and Brunswick 0 – 4.  

In their first dual the Gators matched up with Valdosta besting them 55 – 24.  In round 2 the Gators wrestled Camden B and lost a close dual 38 – 37.  In round 3 the Gators beat the Effingham Rebels 63 – 12. Round 4 brought the gators their 3^rd dual victory of the new season as the beat Glynn Academy 64 – 9.  

Notable Gator performances include Cole White (Jr.), Nawin Hyers (So.), and Britton Jones (Jr.) who all went 4 – 0 for the day.  

The Gators will be travelling to Effingham Co. next weekend to wrestle in the Buddy Duals.  Wrestling will begin at 10:00 am.
