The Ware County Gator Wrestlers hosted Richmond Hill and Charlton Co and went 2-0 defeating Richmond Hill 63-48 and Charlton Co 65-6.  The two Gator victories bring their dual record to 22-9 for the season. The Gators will be going to Camden Co on Saturday, Jan 30, 2016 for the Area (Region) Traditional Tournament. Wrestling will begin at 11:00 am.

Senior Night - vs Brantley & Yulee, FL

The Ware County Gator Wrestlers hosted Brantley County and Yulee, Fl and went 2-0 defeating Yulee 48-36 and Brantley 58-18. The Gators recognized their senior wrestlers this evening, David Soper (170 lbs), Dalton Soper (160 lbs)  and Brandon Rowland (HW). These three seniors have been a part of the Gator wrestling program here at the high school for the last five years. The two Gator victories bring their dual record to 20-9 for the season. The Gators will be going to Camden Co on Saturday, Jan 23, 2016 to wrestle in the Camden Call-Out. Wrestling will begin at 9:00 am.

Ware Co vs Hilton Head, SC & Richmond Hill Jan 12, 2016

The Ware County Gator Wrestling team traveled to Richmond Hill Tuesday night to wrestle Hilton Head, SC and Richmond Hill. The Gators went 0-2 falling to Hilton Head 19-46 and Richmond Hill 37-42. This brings the Gators dual record for the season to 18-9. The Gators will be wrestling at home next Tuesday, 1-19-16 and will host Brantley Co and Yulee, Fl. This will be the Senior night ceremony for the Gator wrestler Seniors. Wrestling will begin at 5:30 pm.

Area Duals - Region Championship

The Gators wrestling placed 3^rd in the area 3AAAAA dual tournament on Saturday hosted by Statesboro HS.  This breaks the 5 year streak in which the Ware Co. wrestling team qualified for the state championship tournament, as only the top 2 teams in each area qualify.  The Gators had a good run considering they were forfeiting 2 weight classes and were injured at the 126 lb. weight class.  Dominating the region once again was Camden Co. placing first.  The Gators won their first 2 duals beating Glynn Academy 60 – 18 and defeating Richmond Hill 39 – 33.  This brought the Gators to the tournament finals where they matched up with Camden Co. and were defeated 60 – 9.  Effingham Co., who defeated Coffee Co. but lost to Camden, wrestled back for third place.  Since the Rebels had not faced the Gators in the tournament they challenged for a true second.  The Dual was exciting coming down to the last match, but the Gators fell to the Rebels 36 – 37.  The Gators dual record now stands at 18 – 7 for the season.  

The Gators will be headed to Richmond Hill HS on Tuesday.  Wrestling will begin at 5:00.

Valdosta Wildcat Invitational 12/29/15 – 12/30/15

The Gator wrestlers competed Tuesday and Wednesday at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Valdosta High School and placed 5^th out of 16 teams in the competition.  The top 6 team at the tournament were Tift Co. in first place scoring 223.5 points, Valdosta HS second place scoring 162.5 points, Effingham Co. in third place scoring 143.0 points, Richmond Hill HS in fourth place scoring 118.0 points, Ware co. in fifth place scoring 114.5 points and Coffee Co. in sixth place scoring 113.5 points.  Other teams that participated were Fitzgerald (7^th place), Brantley Co. (8^th place), Cook Co. (9^th place), Lowndes HS (10^th place), Veterans HS (11^th place), Irwin Co. (12^th place), Turner Co. (13^th place), Islands HS (14^th place), Tift Area (15^th place), and Valwood HS (16^th place).  6 out of the 9 varsity entrants for Ware Co. placed in the top 6 (Ware did not enter 5 of the 14 weight classes).  The scoring varsity placers included Reese Poole (fr.) 106 lbs. placed 4^th, Brandon Foster (so.) 113 lbs. placed 4^th, Sharod Cobb (jr.) 120 lbs. placed 6^th, Cole White (jr.) 152 lbs. placed 2^nd, Dalton Soper (sr.) 160 lbs. placed 4^th, Britton Jones (jr.) placed 3^rd, and Otis Robinson (fr.)
