Gators end dual season placing Top 6 in the AAAA State Duals Championship!

GATORS ARE REGION CHAMPIONS!

 



Region 1 AAAA Duals Championship

At the Gator Den

1/11/2025


The Ware County wrestling team hosted the Region 1-AAAA championship in the Gator Den on Saturday 1/11/25.  The teams competing were Ware Co. Perry, Wayne Co., Benedictine, and Warner Robins (New Hampstead did not participate due to low numbers).  In round 1 #4 seed Wayne Co. wrestled #5 seed Warner Robins beating Warner Robins 51 - 18.  Round 2 matched up #1 seed Ware Co. with Wayne co. and #3 seed Perry with #2 seed Benedictine.  Ware beat Wayne 65 - 13 and Perry beat Benedictine 46 - 30 matching up Ware Co. and Benedictine in the finals.  Round 3 matched up Warner Robins with Benedictine in which Benedictine won 76 - 0.  Round 4 matched up Ware and Perry in the championship finals and Wayne and Benedictine in the consolation finals.  Ware beat Perry 53 - 26 for the Region 1-AAAA championship and Wayne beat Benedictine 39 - 38 for 3rd place.  There was a true second dual between Perry and Wayne in round 5 where Perry beat Wayne 59 - 23.  The final placement is Ware 1st, Perry 2nd, Wayne 3rd, Benedictine 4th, Warner Robins 5th.  1st and 2nd place finishers will compete in the GHSA State Duals Championship Friday and Saturday at Ola High School in McDonough.  Complete event details can be located at https://www.ghsa.net/ghsa-team-duals-wrestling-state-championship
