The Ware Co. Gator wrestlers placed 3 in the top 6 at the
AAAAA State Traditional Wrestling tournament this weekend finishing 9th
overall out of 46 teams represented at the tournament. The Gator placers were Senior Nawin Hyers
placing 3rd at 182 lbs., Senior Demarion Dennis placing 6th
at 145 lbs., and Freshman Banner Thomas placing 6th at 132 lbs. Banner is the first freshman state placer in
the history of Ware Co. high school. Finishing
in the top 8 for the gators was senior Brandon Foster who went 2 – 2 in the
tournament at 113 lbs. Also representing
the Gators were Ethan Frye (fr.) at 106 lbs., Reese Poole (jr.) at 120 lbs.,
Conner White (so.) at 126 lbs., Nick Felton (jr.) at 170 lbs., Zay Taylor (jr.)
at 220 lbs., and James Lucas (sr.) at 285 lbs.
