Ware County Wrestling: Ware County Wrestling Results AAAAA State Duals Macon Coliseum 1/16/20

The Gator Wrestling team ended their Dual season going 3 – 2 in the 2020 AAAAA State Duals Championship held at the Macon Coliseum Thursday through Saturday 1/16/20 – 1/18/20. The Gators finished top 6 in the state, increasing their dual record to 46 – 9 for the season. On Thursday in round 1, the Gators matched up with Carrollton beating the Trojans 46 – 30. The Gators advanced to round 2 matching up with Buford, the #3 seed, falling to the Wolves 23 – 54. Friday morning the Gators met region rival South Effingham in round 2 of wrestle backs for a repeat of the 2 AAAAA region championship besting the Mustangs 48 – 21. The win over the Mustangs advanced the Gators to the consolation quarterfinals Friday evening where the Gators paired up with Union Grove High School beating the Wolverines 40 – 20. On Saturday morning the Gators matched up with Ola in the consolation semifinals losing to the Mustangs 21 – 46 and ending their 2020 cup run. Outstanding performances for the Gators include Anthony Phillips (10^th grade) going 5 – 0 in the tournament, leading the gators with a total of 23 team points and Kooper Thomas with a record of 5 – 0 in the tournament scoring 21 team points. The Gators will host their last 2 duals for the season in the Gator den on Tuesday 1/21/20 hosting Appling Co. and Yulee High School where they will honor their seniors. Wrestling will begin at 5 PM.
