GHSA State Duals Championship Macon, GA 1/11/18 – 1/13/18

The Ware Co. Wrestling team went 3 – 2 at the GHSA State Duals Championship, held at the Macon Centreplex in Macon, GA.  The Gators finished top 6 in the tournament which hosted 16 teams, representing the area champion and runner-up from each of the 8 AAAAA areas from across the state.  In round 1 the Gators matched up with Carrollton High School and lost 30 – 38 in a close dual, which came down to the last bout.  In the first consolation round the Gators matched up with Miller Grove defeating them 74 – 3, ending Thursday competition.  On Friday the Gators matched up with Harris Co. High School beating them 38 – 20, placing the Gators in the top 8 and ending competition for the day.  Saturday matched up the Gators in the conso-quarters with Clarke Central High School.  Ware bested the Gladiators 45 – 21 advancing the Gators into the conso-semis.  The Gators faced off with Locust Grove High School and dropped the dual 34 – 30 to the Wildcats in a heartbreaker which came down to overtime in the final bout.  This brings the Gators dual record to 34 – 6 for the season.  
The Gators will be travelling to Lowndes Co. on Tuesday as they prepare for the state traditional tournament. Wrestling will begin at 6:00 pm.
