State Duals 1/30/21

The Gator Wrestling team finished their dual season Saturday after competing in the GHSA AAAAA State Dual Championship hosted by Locust Grove High School.  The Gators went 0 – 2 on the day losing in round 1 to Woodward Academy 45 – 21  and then dropping a very close dual to Jackson Co. 34 – 33.  The Gators ended the dual season at 25 – 7, finishing top 8 in the AAAAA classification.  The Gators will be travelling to Coffee Co. HS on Saturday 2/6/21 to compete in the Region 1-AAAAA traditional championship.  Weigh-ins begin at 9:00 AM and wrestling will begin at 10:30.  Complete tournament results and Ware Co. results are listed below.

Gators in the Elite 8 and headed to State Dual Championship!!

The Ware County Wrestling team hosted the Dual Wrestling State Preliminaries in the Gator den Saturday. The purpose of this bracketed event was to determine the state duals qualifying team.  The Gators, as region 1-AAAAA region champions, hosted Locust Grove HS, Whitewater HS, and Forest Park HS.  The Gators wrestled Locust Grove HS in the first round beating them 51 – 23 and Whitewater wrestled Forest Park HS 69 – 3.  In round 2 The Gators matched up with Whitewater HS beating them 57 – 21 and earned a spot in the 2021 GHSA State Duals finals, to be held at Locust Grove HS on Saturday 1/30/21.  The Gators wrestled an exhibition dual against Forest Park HS beating them 63 – 15 bringing their dual record to 25 – 5 for the season.
