Ware beats Wayne & Brantley at home 12/14/21

The Gator wrestling team hosted a Tri meet Tuesday night with Wayne Co and Brantley Co. The Gators beat the Wayne County Yellow Jackets 60-17 and bested the Brantley County Herons 54-24 bringing their dual record to 21 – 11 for the season so far.  

The Gators will be travelling to Yulee High School this weekend to compete in the Yulee Duals. Wrestling on Friday will begin at 5:30 PM and 9 AM on Saturday.

Gators take 3rd place in Rebel Invitational 12/10/21-12/11/21

 

The Gators travelled to Effingham High School on Friday to compete in the 2 day traditional tournament Rebel Invitational hosted by Effingham County HS.  The Gators placed third in a field of 14 behind South Effingham (champions) and Effingham (runner-up).  The other teams competing were Bulloch Academy, Benedictine, Bishop England, Calvary, Hiram, Islands, New Hampstead, Savannah Christian, Savannah Country Day, Statesboro, and Vidalia.  The Gators had 11 wrestlers place in the top 6 including 1 Champion, 1 third place, 5 fourth place, 1 fifth place, and 3 sixth place finishers.  Kah’lil Clowers (jr.) was the only Gator champion going 4 – 0 in the tournament and pinning in the finals.

The Gators will be hosting Brantley Co. and Wayne Co. on Tuesday 12/14/21. 

Wrestling will begin at 5:00 PM.

vs TCC and Lowndes 12/7/21

 The Gators travelled to Lowndes Co. HS on Tuesday to wrestle TCC and Lowndes in a Tri-meet.  The Gators beat TCC in their first dual 53 – 26 and fell to the Vikings in their second dual 15 – 59.  This brings the Gators dual record to 19 – 11 so far this season.  The Gators will be travelling to Effingham HS this Friday and Saturday to compete in the Rebel Invitational.  This is a traditional tournament with a 2 loss elimination.  Wrestling will begin on Friday at 6:00 PM and Saturday at 9:00 AM.  Complete dual results are listed below:

Yellow Jacket Duals and Stinger Slam 12/3/21-12/4/21

 The Gator wrestling team increased their dual record to 18 – 10 going 8 – 1 and placing 3^rd in the 15^th annual Yellow Jacket Duals hosted by Jeff Davis HS on Friday and Saturday.  The tournament hosted 24 teams including 4 state qualifying duals teams, two 4^th place dual finishers, and a state duals runner-up from 2021.  The tournament had 4 pools of 6 teams each.  The Gators went 4 – 0 on Friday beating Trinity Christian, Valdosta B, Bacon Co, and East Laurens.  On Saturday the Gators won their pool and their crossover match by defeating Effingham and Jones Co.  The Gators earned a 1 seed in the Gold Bracket by winning their pool giving them a shot at a tournament championship.  In Round 1 the Gators defeated Dodge Co. 60 – 21.  In the Semi-finals round the Gators fell to Brunswick 29 – 44.  In the conso-finals the Gators bested Vidalia 41 – 36 earning 3^rd place in the tournament.  Notable performances include Kah’lil Clowers going 9 – 0 for the tournament with 8 pins and a TF, Anthony Phillips going 9 – 0, and Ryan Starr going 9 – 0 for the tournament.  The Gators will travel To Lowndes on Tuesday for a Tri vs. Lowndes and TCC.  Wrestling will begin at 5 PM.  For complete tournament results go to www.trackwrestling.com and search yellow jacket duals.
