New Year’s Iron Woman Invitational 12/29/20

The Lady Gators of the Ware County Wrestling Team traveled to Toombs County High School to wrestle in the 1st Annual New Year’s Iron Woman Invitational on Tuesday. This tournament was a great opportunity for the girls to get mat time as a warm up for the Girls State Tournament to be held later in February. The tournament format was round robin split into “A” groups and “B” groups. This format maximized match ups and mat time for the competitors and minimized competition between members of the same team. Some of the Lady Gators were able to be paired up for exhibition matches as well. The Lady Gators had 8 entries placing 7 of the 8 in the top 3 in their round robin group.  Kendra Moore, Soph. (132) and Caitlyn Mixon, Jr. (172), came out on top as champions in their weight class.  Placing 2^nd for the Lady Gators were Evie Brown (112B), Ashleigh Griffis (122B0, and Perla Hernandez (142).  Placing 3^rd for the Lady Gators were Decotia Adkinson (102A) and Brittany Newman (102B).  The Gator Varsity mens team will be travelling to the Packer Duals on Saturday 1/2/21, hosted by Colquitt Co. HS.  This will be a round robin duals tournament with 2 pools of 5 teams.  Wrestling will begin at 9:00 AM.  The following are the individual results for the day

Ware Vs. Brunswick, Brantley County 12/15/2020

 The Gators wrestled at Brunswick Tuesday against the Herons from Brantley and the Pirates from Brunswick.  With 8 varsity starters injured, the Gators went 1 – 1 for the day defeating the Herons 46 – 36 and dropping the dual against the Pirates 75 – 4.  The banged up Gators will be off until the Packer Duals on 1/2/21, giving the Gators time to heal and regroup.  The Lady Gators wrestlers will be attending the New Year’s Iron Woman Invitational hosted by Toombs County on 12/29/20.  The Lady Gators will be entering 8 female wrestlers in the tournament.  Wrestling will begin at 2 PM.  Spectators cost $5 per person at the door.  Complete Varsity and JV results are listed below:

Blue Line Duals Results 12/12/20

The Gator wrestling team travelled to Effingham on Saturday to compete in the Blue Line Duals.  The Gators went 1 – 2, losing to South Effingham 55 – 16, and Perry 37 - 27, and beating Glynn Academy 40 - 27.  The Gators dual record currently stands at 17 – 5.  Ware County will resume competition on Tuesday 12/15/20 at Brunswick High School.  

Wrestling will begin at 5 PM.
