Gators take 2nd at Paul Thigpen Sweet Onion Memorial 1/24/20 – 1/25/20

The Ware Co. Gator Wrestling team finished their regular season placing 2^nd in the 18 team Sweet Onion Memorial wrestling tournament hosted by Toombs Co. HS this Friday and Saturday.  The teams competing were Veterans, Ware, West Laurens, Statesboro, Tift, Toombs, Vidalia, South Effingham, Harlem, Pierce, Dodge, Jeff Davis, Telfair, Brantley, Berrien, Swainsboro, Trinity Christian Dublin, and Treutlen.  The Gators had 7 wrestlers place in the top 4:  Ethan Frye 106 lbs. (sr) going 4 – 0 and placing 1^st, Anthony Phillips 113 lbs. (so) going 3 – 1 and placing 2^nd, Banner Thomas 152 lbs. (jr) going 3 – 1 and placing 2^nd, JJ Rodriguez 170 lbs. (so) going 3 – 1 and placing 2^nd, Kooper Thomas 182 lbs. (sr) going 3 – 1 and placing 2^nd, Jeremy Butler 145 lbs. (jr) going 4 – 2 and placing 4^th, and Cannon White 160 lbs. SENIOR NIGHT!

 

The Gator Wrestling team ended their Dual season at home hosting Yulee HS and Appling Co.  The Gators split the competition Tuesday falling to Yulee 46 – 36, then beating Appling Co. 72 – 6.  The Ware Co. Grapplers final dual record for the 2019 – 2020 season stands at 47 – 10.  Complete season records and stats can be viewed at www.warecountywrestling.com  The Ware Co. wrestling team recognized its seniors Tuesday evening.  Aaliyah Sandiford, Ethan Frye, Kooper Thomas, Kobie Turner, Cannon White, and Jesus Hernandez were recognized as 2020 senior Gator wrestlers.  The Gators will be competing this Friday and Saturday at the Paul Thigpen Sweet Onion Memorial traditional tournament hosted by Toombs Co. HS.  Wrestling will begin at 4:00 PM on Friday and 9:30 AM on Saturday.
