The Gators headed to Macon GA last Thursday to participate
in the 2012 State wrestling dual tournament held in the Macon Centreplex. The 2X region 2 AAAA champions ended with a 6th
place finish in the tournament out of the 16 teams that competed. Ware Co. had a few speed bumps going onto the
tournament as 2 of the 14 varsity wrestlers who wrestled in the Region
tournament had to stay home due to illness.
Going into the consolation quarterfinals vs. Alexander the Gators lost
132 pounder, Taylor Bristow, to a head injury.
Going into the consolation semifinals vs. Loganville the Gators were
down their starting varsity 138 pounder Austin Delk to a dislocated shoulder. Overall, the Gators went 3 – 3 to a true 6th
