Ware County Wrestling: Great finish to a historic season!

State Placers

The Ware Co. Gator Wrestling team had a record setting traditional tournament in Macon this weekend placing five of their ten state qualifiers in the top four and placing 2^nd overall behind Pope H.S. to become the first state runner-up wrestling team in Ware Co. History. The state placers for the Gators were Luke Littlefield (Jr.) placing 4^th at weight class 106, John Williams (Sr.) placing 2^nd at weight class 113, Isaac King (Sr.) placing 2^nd at weight class 145, David Shavers (Sr.) placing 2^nd at weight class 170, and Jacob Allen (Jr.) placing 3^rd at weight class 182. Other notable performances by the gators were Jake Gourley (Jr.) going 2 – 2 to finish in the top 8 at weight class 126 and Dakota York (Jr.) going 2 – 2 to finish in the top eight at weight class 285. Jake and Dakota were one match away from placing in the top six. Other gator state qualifiers included Zurell Taylor (Jr.) 0 – 2 at weight class 132, Devante Durham (Jr.) 0 – 2 at weight class 138, and Lewy Morrison (Sr.) 0 – 2 at weight class 220.

The top five teams in class AAAAA were Pope HS 1^st with 215.5 points, Ware Co. 2^nd with 99.0 points, Ola HS 3^rd with 80.0 points, Creekview HS 4^th with 75.0 points, and Whitewater HS 5^th with 69.0 points.
