The Ware Co. Gator wrestling team won the 6th annual Yellow Jacket Duals tournament this past Friday and Saturday hosted by Jeff-Davis HS. The tournament hosted 16 teams including Appling Co, Coffee Co., Coffee Co. JV, Dodge Co., Irwin Co., Montgomery Co., Toombs Co., Brantley Co., Cook Co., East Laurens, Glynn Academy, Jeff-Davis Co., Telfair Co., Treutlen Co., and West Laurens JV. The Gators, still without 5 varsity starters due to football, went 8 – 1 for the weekend bringing home the big trophy after defeating Coffee Co. 43 – 34 in the finals. The Gators started of the tournament Friday afternoon by losing to Coffee Co. 45 – 27. Then the Gators bounced back winning the next 3 in a row defeating Jeff-Davis 71 – 10, Brantley 61 – 18, and Appling 46 – 32. On Saturday the Gators went 5 – 0 defeating West Laurens JV 63 – 17, Montgomery 70 – 12, Glynn Academy 51 – 28, Toombs Co. 51 – 28, and Coffee Co. 43 – 34.
