Ware County boasts SIX Champions and a 2nd place finish at the Rebel Invitational

 The Ware Co. Wrestling team placed 2nd at the 12th annual Rebel Invitational wrestling tournament hosted by Effingham HS on Friday 12/7 and Saturday 12/8.  Still without 5 varsity starters due to football involvement (Go Gators!), the wrestling team was able to come within 7 points from 1st place out of 26 teams who travelled from SC, GA, and FL.  The Rebel Invitational was the first traditional tournament of the season and Ware Co. had 6 tournament champions, dominating the championship finals mat.  Luke Littlefield (11th grade, 113lbs) went 4 – 0 with 2 pins, 1 major decision and one decision.  Littlefield matched up with Brad Krumm fom Clay CHS (FL) in the finals pinning him in the third period.  The second tournament champion for Ware Co. was John Williams (12th grade, 120lbs) who went 4 – 0 for the tournament with 2 pins and 2 decisions beating Zach Nagorski from Brunswick HS 6 – 4 in the finals.  The third champion for Ware Co. was Jake Gourley (11th grade, 126lbs) who went 4 – 0 for the tournament with 1 pin and 3 decisions.  Jake beat Zane Nagorski from Brunswick HS 6 – 2 in the finals.  The fourth tournament champion for Ware Co. was Isaac King (12th grade, 152lbs) who went 4 – 0 for the tournament with 2 pins and 2 decisions beating Chris Paramore from Effingham Co. by fall in the finals.  
Ware Co. had a fifth tournament champion at 170lbs with David Shavers (12th grade).  David went 4 – 0 for the tournament with 3 pins and a decision.  David Shavers was named Most Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament with an outstanding performance.  David pinned a 2X state placer, Tavon Powell from Effingham Co. in the semi-finals and then beat Jacob Bain from Clay HS (FL), who was state runner-up in FL last year, 6 – 3 in the finals.  The 6th champion for Ware Co. was Jacob Allen (11th grade, 182lbs) who went 5 – 0 for the tournament winning all 5 matches by pin – fall.  Allen met Joseph Hutchinson from Fort Dorchester (SC) in the finals winning by pin.  The top 5 team scores were 5th place – Glenn Hills HS (143.00 points), 4th place – Effingham Co. (186 points), 3rd place – Brunswick HS (190 points), 2nd place – Ware Co. (210.50 points), and 1st place Clay HS (217.50 points).
