The Ware Co Gators have 6 State placers and finish 6th as a team at State Traditionals!

AAAAA State Traditional Tournament

2/13/20 – 2/15/20

Macon Coliseum

The Ware County wrestling team qualified 11 Gators and brought 2 alternates to Macon to compete in the class AAAAA state traditional tournament held at the Macon Coliseum on Thursday – Saturday 2/13 – 2/15/20.  Competing for the Gators were Ethan Frye (sr.) @ 106 lbs., Anthony Phillips (so.) @ 113 lbs., Grayson Smith (jr.) @ 126 lbs., Kah’lil Clowers (fr.) @ 138 lbs., Kobie Turner (sr.) @ 145 lbs., Banner Thomas (jr.) @ 152 lbs., Cannon White (sr.) @ 160 lbs., JJ Rodriguez (so.) @ 1709 lbs., Kooper Thomas (sr.) @ 182 lbs., Jesus Hernandez (sr.) @ 195 lbs. Tyler Nipper (jr.) @ 220 lbs. {entered the tournament as an alternate}, and Kendra Moore (fr.) @ 122 lbs. competing in the girls tournament.  Jeremy Butler (jr.) also travelled as an alternate at 132 lbs. but did not compete.  The Gators put 6 wrestlers on the podium:  Ethan Frye – runner-up, Kooper Thomas runner-up, Anthony Phillips – 3^rd, Jesus Hernandez – 4^th, Cannon White – 6^th, and the Gator’s first female state placer Kendra Moore placing 5^th in the state Girls tournament as a freshman.  The girls’ tournament is not divided by classification.  The Gators placed 6^th overall as a team out of 43 teams representing class AAAAA.  Complete team scores, brackets, and individual team results can be viewed at www.trackwrestling.com.  The top 10 team results and individual Ware county wrestler results are listed below.
